We have so much fun outdoors!
This week we thought we would share with you all the activities we enjoy doing outside! We have been using our gross motor skills and we have been using our large outdoor equipment to climb and some of us have been swinging upside down! All these activities are helping us to develop and strengthen our muscles. We have also been using our large chalk board and writing on the floor as well as using the chalks to draw fantastic pictures. We have loved building our very own dens

This week at Blackmoor Infants...
We have been designing our own sculptures and discussing what we want them to be made from. Currently clay is the most popular choice. For DT we talked about our favourite foods and created a pictogram to see the most and least popular fruits in our class. Computing was all about directions, so we walked our friends around the room giving them directions to follow. We've been learning about the human body and carried out an experiment using our bodies. We measured our leg len

Lots of lovely learning!
Well Year 1 have had another very busy week this week. We have loved being amazing artists and investigating sculpture. We became sculptors and used a wide range of resources to create our own work. We worked independently and collaboratively on our own artistic interpretations of sculpture. We are really enjoying our Traditional story this week - Jack and the Beanstalk and have used our imaginations to describe what we think we can see at the top of the beanstalk! We have h

Outdoor Learning in Rowan
We had lots of fun learning outdoors this week. We are starting a new science topic 'Living Things and their Habitats' and went exploring for living things in our school grounds. We recorded the living things we found by photographing them on our devices. Here are some of the amazing photographs we have taken.

Another busy week for Hazel?
We have worked very hard this week in maths making tally charts, pictograms and interpreting information. We have been identifying odd and even numbers and sorting into pairs using the Rekenreks. We enjoyed being cooperative with each other when carrying out tasks with Mr Clarke were we had to pass objects as carefully as possible.
After the pantomime last week, we focussed on the story of Snow White in our English lessons and the children enjoyed ”hot seating”. Were they a

Hello to 2022
Happy New Year! This week in Art we have been exploring sculptures. What are they made of? We thought they could be made of ice, clay, metal and stone. We looked at different sculptures around the country in art galleries and even some outside. We've talked about healthy and unhealthy food, and how we need it to give us energy. Science was so much fun! We talked about our 5 senses and listened to a scientific expert talk about how a dogs taste buds are different to ours. Then

Oh no it isn't!!!
On Friday, M and M productions visited our school. Through using two actors and a recorded interactive performance they were able to perform a Pantomime based on the traditional story 'Snow White'. The children absolutely loved watching the show and joining in with as many parts of the performance as they could. They were able to recall the main events from the show and we also talked about how the traditional story had been changed. They were all very keen to discuss their

Up and running with 2022!
A huge welcome back to all of the children. It was so nice to see them after the holidays. They loved talking about their news and all of the wonderful presents they received in addition to the Christmas family meals they ate. We have had a busy couple of days which were finished off with a fantastic pantomime (Snow White) which the children thoroughly enjoyed. They had a lot of fun singing along to their favourite songs and joining in with the usual pantomime banter. Wishing
