In Year 1 we have been Musicians, Mathematicians and Scientists. We are investigating Christianity and what it means for Christians. We have been developing our skills as team players, sharing and taking turns. This week we took Maths outside. We played games developing our understanding of number getting into groups of 2,3, 4 and 5. We estimated how high we needed to throw the ball. We counted how many catches we could do within a minute. Wonderful Reading - Class Oak
We love reading in Class Oak and we know just how important it is to practice our reading everyday in class and at home. We use the skills we've learned in Read, Write, Ink lessons in the morning and apply them every afternoon to help us improve our reading.

National Fitness Day -Class Oak
We had a fantastic time for National Fitness Day last week! We had lots of fun activities to keep fit and we also looked at healthy food and other ways to keep us fit and healthy such as hygiene, good sleep and drinking lots of water to keep us hydrated.

Maths Party Day -Afternoon- Class Oak
We continued our learning about Time in the afternoon and applied our learning. Using Tally Charts we recorded our results. We looked at how many hops, jumps and star jumps we could achieve in 30 seconds. We recorded who was the best at balancing and how long someone could stand on one leg. We completed the afternoon playing target games. we counted in 2s, 5s and 10s to record our scores.

Maths Party Day -Morning -Class Oak
We had an amazing Maths Party Day in Class Oak. We started with a Class Assembly tackling lots of exciting Maths problems. We focused on the concept of Time. We explored our daily routines and the number of seconds, minutes and hours in a day. We looked at clocks and how they can be used to tell the time. We also explored other measures of time and explored the days of the week, the months of the year and the seasons.

Another amazing week in Kindi 3+
This week we have had a fabulous time continuing to build friendships and explore the Kindi 3+ environment. A beautiful archway was delivered to us this week, and we added it to the reading area. It has helped to create a cosy space to snuggle up and share a book with our new friends. Ahoy me mateys! We worked together to build a pirate ship to sail the 7 seas. Time for Maths!
Hazel class had a great day completing a variety of time activities for World Maths Day. We looked at how long a minute is by completing timed physical activities, ordered days of the week and months of the year and looked at seasonal changes. We partitioned, ordered and represented numbers in a variety of ways.

Year 1 have been so busy this week. Mr Clarke ran a circuit session for Fitness Day this week. We all had lots of fun!
