Comic Strip Chestnut!

Today Chestnut have been exploring how they feel about the move to the Junior school in September. We read a story about a boy called Jake. He was worried about his first day in his new school but after an amazing day he couldn't wait to go back. We talked about all the exciting things we will do in the our new school.

Reception love their pets!

This week we have been focusing on a mini topic about 'Pets' as some children have had new pet dogs. We discussed animals that make suitable pets, how to care for different pets and pets we might like to own. We have also been doubling and halving numbers. It has been another busy, fun filled week!

Competition Natural Outdoor Hub

A few more details on the competition... John Moores University have asked schools to make a logo representing the NATURAL OUTDOORS this will be used as the offical logo! Get as creative as you can! email your logo designs to mrs Tinsley on playground@bpinfant.com Closing date 16th July 2020! Thank you Mrs Tinsley

Designing Dangerous Dinosaurs

Whilst reading our book 'Harry and his dinosaurs go to school', here in Kindi we've been thinking about different questions we could ask our new teachers and children that have already experienced what it is like in Reception. We have read that Harry took his dinosaurs with him and helped him get comfortbale in his new classroom, so we thought what dinosaurs we would take. Do they have sharp teeth, long claws, lots of prickles on their backs, long necks or even wings?! This helps us explore many different themes such as: feelings and emotions, creative things, extending vocabulary with wonderful adjectives as well as pencil control. Lots of fun had by all!

Chestnut Get Creative

As part of our preparations to move to the Junior School in September, we have been exploring the school website. We were very impressed by the artists who took part in a competition and it inspired us to create our own pieces of art. Have a look...do you have a favourite? I'm sure you'll agree that they are all wonderful.

Purple Mash

Why not design your own natural outdoor logo for the competition on purple mash? Mrs Tinsley has set a '2do' for reception children. Can year 1/2 children make your own natural outdoor picture? select Art then Nature now chose an option you like the best!

Worries and Wishes

Today Chestnut have been busy thinking about moving to the Junior School and talking about how they feel about it. We decided to make worry dolls. Have you heard of them before? No? Let us tell you about them... A worry doll is a Mayan legend and made as a way to help you think about and manage your worries. If you are worried about something tell your worry doll at night and then put it under your pillow. Hopefully in the morning your worries will have been reduced and you will feel calmer for the day ahead. If you have no worries why not try a wish instead! Give it a go!

Competition designs...
