The Power of Yet!
From September 2025, Blackmoor Park Infant School and Kindergarten is excited to introduce The Power of Yet as a key part of our approach to learning and development for all our children.
What is the Power of Yet?
The Power of Yet is a mindset that encourages children to embrace challenges with optimism. Instead of saying “I can’t do this,” children learn to say, “I can’t do this... yet.” This simple addition helps children understand that learning is a process and skills develop over time with effort and persistence.
Why are we introducing it now?
As part of our commitment to nurturing confident, resilient learners, The Power of Yet complements our existing Learning Behaviours framework. It supports children in developing important attitudes such as perseverance, curiosity, and independence, helping them to overcome challenges and celebrate progress.
How does this link to our Learning Behaviours?
The Power of Yet directly supports the key learning behaviours we promote at Blackmoor Park, including:
-
Resilience – bouncing back from setbacks
-
Motivation – staying engaged and eager to learn
-
Independence – taking ownership of learning
-
Curiosity – asking questions and exploring
To learn more about our full set of learning behaviours, please visit our Our Learning Behaviours page.
What impact will this have on our children?
By embedding The Power of Yet across the school, we aim to help children:
-
Develop confidence to try new things without fear
-
Understand that challenges are part of learning and growth
-
Build strong perseverance skills
-
Feel proud of their efforts and progress every step of the way
We believe that fostering The Power of Yet will inspire our children to become lifelong learners who approach challenges with positivity and determination.
