This term in PE the children are developing their health and fitness skills. The children's learning goals are:
To use equipment appropriately and move and land safely.
To describe how and why their body changes during and after exercise.
To explain why we need to warm up and cool down.
The fundamental physical skill focus for the last 3 weeks has been developing the children's static balancing skills. The children have demonstrated an understanding of what is required to maintain a balance and how to transition their movements in a smooth and controlled manner.
The children have experienced the role of being the 'athlete' and the 'coach'. Working in pairs they practise the skill when they are the athlete, when they're the coach the aim is for the children to vocalise the relevant vocabulary to support the fundamental physical skill, and promote positive praise and encourage their 'athlete' to succeed.
