Headteacher's Welcome

A warm welcome to Blackmoor Park Infant School!

Blackmoor Park Infant School is a wonderful school to work in; our talented and hardworking staff are committed to providing the very best.  We are very proud of our school and the way it is continually developing as a creative, child centred environment.  Relationships across the school site are based on mutual trust and respect; all children are valued and all staff work extremely hard to help every child reach his or her full potential.

Our vision is to provide high quality, creative and challenging education within a safe, caring and happy school community, where children develop a lifelong love of learning; a school where the key to our mission statement is simply:

“Learning and Achieving Together”

Our values - our school is a place where;

  • everyone is made to feel welcome

  • we respect and care for ourselves, others and everything around us

  • everyone benefits from, and is committed to, excellence in learning

We are a friendly vibrant three form entry Infant and Nursery school. We provide breakfast club, after school club, holiday club as well as providing Nursery education and care during the school day for up to 65 full time children in Kindergarten 3+.  There is on-site Early Years integrated full day care provision offering up to a further 24 places for babies and 2-year-old children, offering 15 and 30-hour provision as well as nursery and childcare services within Little Kindi.

We have nine school aged classes with thirty children in each class. These are organised into three year groups of ninety in each Year Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. All come under our school governance and the leadership of myself alongside an exceptional leadership team.

We believe that being an infant school enables us to focus very clearly on the needs of children in the early years of education, giving them a successful start. It is our intent that children who enter our provision whether from birth or from three begin their lifelong learning journey by developing physically, verbally, cognitively and emotionally whilst also embedding a positive attitude to school and a love of learning: competent and creative learners who are curious about the world around them.

Your child’s typical day will ensure their spoken language and vocabulary knowledge is given the highest priority. Our school’s key concepts driving all our learning projects throughout a child’s career with us are: Happiness; Friendship; Belonging; Resilience; Pride; Honesty; Individuality; Creativity.

As accomplished and experienced practitioners, we focus on the acquisition of knowledge, understanding and skills in well planned activities because we believe that our children should have the opportunity to study areas of the curriculum in greater depth. Using this approach we prepare our children to produce exceptional outcomes whilst developing their independence, curiosity, and creativity. In their time with us we ensure our children receive the essential knowledge they need to be educated citizens, introducing them to the best that has been thought and said, helping them towards an appreciation of human creativity and achievement. Together we produce collaborators, innovators, leaders and more than anything else, young people who understand what it means to be human.

Children leave our school at the end of Year 2 ready to progress to the next stage of their learning and with the confidence and excitement to face the challenge of moving forward to acquiring new knowledge, vocabulary and skills.

We value highly the partnership between home and school and encourage all parents to take an active part in the education of their children.  The school cannot work in isolation.  The partnership between school staff, parents, governors and other stakeholders is an essential one.

Together we can set challenges and our partners can help us as ‘how can we do it even better?’

Please feel free to book an appointment and visit us during the school day. We hope you and your child will be very happy here.

This web site will further provide you with an insight into our aims, values and the environment we create to support the learning of young children.  We hope you find your virtual visit informative and exciting, a celebration of our work and a glimpse for prospective pupils, parents and visitors of what our school is all about.

Come take a look.

Thank you for visiting!
