Last term, Beech had a fantastic time in all areas of their learning! Here is some of the things that we learned and got up to.
Our D.T project
First, we researched lots of different toys and what they were made from and how they were made. We then designed our own teddy bear that we were going to create, we drew a template and then chose which materials we would like to use. After that, we then made our teddy bear. We needed to use draw the template onto the material for the outline of our teddy bear and then cut it . Then we used a needle and thread to sew our teddy together until we only had a little part left to sew. After we had finished sewing, we stuffed our teddy bears and sewed it all up. Then after we had finished we added more details and the finishing touches! Miss Sutton was so impressed with how all of our teddies turned out.
In computing we first learned how to follow simple instructions and commands. After that, we had to desribe the instructions and the sequence we had completed.
Next, we predicted the outcome of a sequence of algorithms and compared our predictions to the outcomes.
After that, we designed our own mat for our robot. We then added obstacles to our mat and planned different algorithms to program our robot. Our challenge was to see if we could get the robot to go from the starting point to the finish point.
English - Michael Rosen
During one of English lessons, we learned all about Michael Rosen and found out lots of facts. Did you know that on the night that Michael Rosen was born, the church next door to him burned down?
After we had found out lots of facts, we had lots of fun acting out the story 'We're going on a Bear Hunt'.
In one of our Maths lessons we had lots of fun identifying different coins and and making different amounts.
NSPCC Number Day
On NSPCC number day we had lots of fun all based around Maths. We also wore clothes with numbers on them. During the afternoon, we had a number hunt in the playgroud. We had to find all of the Numberblocks up to 20!
