Welcome back to school, we hope you a had a relaxing and enjoyable summer.
There have been lots of changes in school over the holidays, building work is coming along nicely and everything looks lovely!
As you may remember we have new class names, Miss Pendleton's class is called Pine Class, Miss Wilkins and Mrs Sullivan are Beech Class and Mrs Reaney is Chestnut.
We have an exciting year ahead of us and already have lots of fun activities and learning experiences in the diary!
The children have settled in really well this week and have made an excellent start to their learning journey in Year 1.
Could we please respectfully remind you to label all of your childs clothing clearly and to bring in P.E kits as soon as possible, as taught lessons will begin next week. You need to have shorts, tee shirt and pumps.
Reading books will be changed weekly, the books sent home are to consolidate and practice reading skills taught in school. Please could you mark in their reading record how they are getting on. It is important your child has their reading book in school every day. Please don't feel you must only read school books, it is important for your child to experience a wide variety of different styles and genres of text - don't forget comics too!
We are currently developing a new style of homework activities. These will be given out weekly and returned 5 days later. It is important for your child to complete these tasks as it supports and consolidates learning in class. It is also an opportunity for you to share their learning and amazing progress together!
We will also be sending home weekly spellings in a separate book please practise these with your child.
We are looking forward to a fantastic year together learning laughing and having fun together!
Year 1 Team!
