Whilst reading our new topic book 'The Naughty Bus', the bus tells us that he is in fact a London bus. This has opened the door for all sorts of potential lines of discussion amongst the reception classes. What did emerge as a point of interest was the shape of the buildings that make up the London skyline and also what some of the buildings were called. The London eye, the Gherkin and Big Ben all make an appearance our new look assembly hall display, combining lots of lovely colours and lots of lovely cross curricular links with our shapes studies in maths. Through a formula of art and design as well as mathematics the children are gaining a better understanding of shapes (both 2-d and 3-d) as well as being able to compare their immediate environment (Liverpool and its surrounding area) with other environments (London) and spot the differences.
