Obstacle Courses and Outdoor Learning

November 15, 2017

During our 'Go Green for NSPCC'

day, many of the children took part in the construction and participation of a difficult obstacle course. Ms Rattigan, Ms Moore and Ms Tinsley led the way as the children helped build this obstacle course with various heights, challenges and phonetic bridges to cross. Weaving, crawling, jumping and balancing were all encompassed in the effort to reach the end, whether it was across blocks, around poles or on top of crates. Towards the end of the course the children were asked to jump on a 'sound stepping stone'. When met with this challenge the children had to jump on the next available sound and shout out what they thought it was, if correct they were allowed to proceed. All of this outdoor learning is further evidence of our attempts to make fun activities as cross-curricular as possible.
