Hello, welcome to Reception! We are very excited that your child is here with us at Blackmoor Park Infants School and starting their school journey.
The children have all made a fantastic start to their school life and all the staff working in Reception are impressed with how well all the children are settling in and learning the new routines.
Just to help you, below is a list of the staff working in Reception
RRM: Mrs Rattigan, Mrs Moore, Mrs Tinsley
RP: Mr Penn, Miss Tankard
RF: Mr Frascina. Mrs Price, Mrs Brown
And we are very lucky to have Mrs Webb working across all 3 classes!
In Reception we use the Narrative Immersion approach. We use lots of role play, drama, and small world to bring each focus story to life, and immerse ourselves in the text. This engages children emotionally and also inspires a need to write! A story will be the basis for each half termly topic and planning from this book will be based on the childrens interests and questions and that they themselves generate. The children will be exploring all areas of learning through each narrative immersion topic. At this stage of the year our priority is getting to know the children well so we can plan activities that they will enjoy learning. You can find out more about the whole years curriculum or this Autumn 1 half term planning by exploring the Curriculum section of the website.
The children are coping really well with organising their belongings in school. We have sent home a letter with what your child needs to bring into school, they will need a school bag or book bag, P.E kit after October half term, water bottle if you would like, and wellington boots to leave in school. It would be really helpful if you could regularly check all your child’s clothing/water bottle/book bag is clearly named. It is the only way that we can know who it belongs to. It would also be great if your child has a way of recognising their book bag easily. This could be by putting a key ring on the handle or customising the book bag with some stickers.
We are very excited to get to know your children more, and value yourselves as their first and most important educator! Please share your childs successes and progress at home with their class adults. We will send an email home at the end of each half term so make sure we have an up to date email address. You can also keep checking the school website for more updates.
