Summer 1 (20th April - ?)

Below is a list of suggested activities for you and your child to complete while they are unable to attend to school, please do not feel as though you have to complete them all, they are there for you to work through at your own pace.

Year 2 Learning Log

Summer week 1

  • Write a list of living things you can see in your home and garden.

  • Research and explore these famous historical people who had ‘Big Dreams’.

    • Mahatma Gandhi

    • Mother Teresa

  • Write an information sheet for each of them.

  • You may want to be a King or Queen , President or Prime Minister when you grow up. Come up with 5

  • new laws that you would make to help people be happy?

  • Find and draw and label 5 different flowers. Can you find out and draw what their seeds look like?

  • Look at Vincent Van Gogh’s Sunflower painting. Can you create a collage of this using any materials you can find.

  • Keep a food diary for this week. Underline all the healthy food that you have eaten.

  • Research and explore these famous historical people who had ‘Big Dreams’.

    • Emily Pankhurst

  • Write an information sheet for each of them.

  • Think about a big dream that you have. Write down how you can make that possible.

  • Find and draw and label 5 different fruits. Find out which country they come from. Draw a flag for each country and name the continent where that country is found.

  • Plan and design a fruit kebab using your favourite fruits. Draw a pictures and describe how it tasted using expanded noun phrases.

Summer week 3

 

  • Write an Acrostic Poem about ‘Summer’.

  • Write a postcard from your dream holiday destination. Try and get as many sentence types in it as possible. (statement, command, question, exclamation - who/what)

  • Design a suitcase and draw what you would take on your dream holiday.

  • Write a letter to your new teacher telling them who you are and what you are looking forward to.

  • Write a list of questions that you have about moving to the Juniors.

  • Plan and design a fruit smoothie using your favourite fruits. Draw a picture of what colour it was. How did it taste?

  • Choose a country and write a list of facts about it. Compare it to West Derby, and England.
